Presentation

ROUGH   DRAFT.
  1. The students will be learning about fashion design, the history, and the background info on one fashion designer. They will also learn what is the importance of being a fashion designer and what is their actual job.

  1. There are a few things I will be going over with the class.

a)     introduce my essential question and explain how and why I chose it for my topic.
b)    brief history on fashion design itself, how it came about, when it really started, why  it started, first recorded designer, etc.
c)     talk about a fashion designer. Example can be Coco Chanel, talk about her life, how she got into fashion design, and her motives.
d)    I’m also going to be talking about what a fashion designer does and how much they get  paid, and their job outlook basically.

  1. A way that I will check for people’s understanding is by having everyone ask questions when I’m done speaking. This will help everyone get a clearer view on the topic. Another way is for people to ask questions after each section I go through or just raise their hand while I’m talking.

  1. Some materials or resources that I will bring are some hand drawn designs, possibly a poster board with designers on it and some of their work to show as an example. Another thing I can do is bring some articles or pictures for people to look at and pass around while I talk.

  1. In the end, I’ll just give a brief conclusion to wrap things up and basically summarize what topics I had already gone over.

RESPONSE  TO  5  MINUTE  PRESENTATION.
1) I think what stood out the most in my presentation was the fact that I spoke clearly and the fact that i was able to provide some brief yet good information that is a good intro to my topic.

2) Believe it or not, the hardest part for me was actually showing everyone my own designs. I've never showed anyone my designs before, so I was definitely a bit iffy on how to go about it.

  1. It looks like you are good to go.

Just a word of caution, please don’t call for questions. Asking for questions stops the clock and generally means that you’ve stopped presenting. Focus on what you want to say.

If you want to ask a few specific questions as a review of what you've said, that's OK.
